
Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek-Jamesenez on September 2, 1966, is an American and Mexican actor and producer. In Mexico she started her career by playing the character of Teresa in the television series (1989-1991) and El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) in which she was nominated for an Ariel Award. She soon established herself in Hollywood by appearing in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) as well as Dogma (1999). Hayek's role as Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) the film that she also produced, resulted in Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. The film also brought her an Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, and British Academy Film Award nominations. In the following years, Hayek focused more on making films, while also starring in the action-centered pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico
